"Everything Old is New Again"

Flashback! This season’s hottest trends are going back in time. Inspiration and influence have been taken from the 20’s, 50’s and 80’s (and still of hint of influence from the 60’s & 70’s).

Fashion of the 1920’s was highly influenced by art and a sense of freedom. This vintage style can be replicated today with feathers, fringe & tassels, faux fur and sequins. Fringe & tassel treatment is showing up on tops, dresses, scarves and handbags! The 20’s definitely had an influence on the shift and draping styles that are popular for tops and dresses.

Rewind to the 50’s for a feminine and lady-like style with a twist. Fashion from the 1950’s was influenced by glamorous movie stars of the decade. Cardigans were a staple back then and they are back once again! Dresses, cardigans, ruffles, pearls and flats are essential for a 50’s inspired style.

The 80s look continues ala Flashdance and Fame. All of the styles you once knew and loved are back- leggings, oversized tops, off the shoulder tops and boots.

The Hard Rocker

The tough girl chic continues and remains valid into 2010 with leather, lace, chains and the whole motorcycle vibe.

Leather is the #1 fabric of the season (whether it’s the real deal or faux!). A leather jacket is iconic of the rock-and-roll style. The jacket of the season is definiately the biker jacket. Pair it with a ruffle dress and booties for an ultra tough girl chic look. But the leather doesn't stop there...leather bags, pants, leggings, and minis are all great looks for the season.

Over the knee boots and booties are two the most popular footwear options for this rockin’ style. When it comes to belts- go for a skinny belt with studs and stack them by wearing 2 or 3 at a time. Chains, chains, and more chains. Many cool tops now come with chains or a necklace, which makes creating your tough girl chic style so much easier! Shoes and bags that are embellished with chains, zippers or chains are other great accessories for the tough girl chic look.
